Is Starbucks water free?
The answer is yes! Starbucks will provide you with filtered tap water free of charge. Most stores will serve you water in a Venti cup, but you can also ask for a specific size when asking for free water.
If you always get your coffee from Starbucks, you may be aware that Starbucks has its own line of bottled water. But if you do not want to pay additional for a cup of water, you can always ask for the filtered one for free.
And although most stores do not charge their customers for a cup of water, take note that some do charge their customers for the cup itself for $0.25 to $0.50 for inventory purposes. The cup may not be free, but you can refill it with no extra charges.

If you are trying to order canned or bottled water on the Starbucks app, the steps should be pretty easy for you. But ordering free water in a cup may be a little tricky since this option is not available in all Starbucks stores. Don’t worry, we will still show you how to do it.
For bottled water, you have the following options:
- Dasani Bottled water priced at $23.99 for an 8 bottle pack
- Ethos Bottled Water priced at $1.95
- Galvanina Sparking bottled water
- Galvanina Sparking Water Lime (bottled)
- Hawai’i Volcanic water
- Spindrift Grapefruit Sparking canned water
- Spindrift Raspberry Lime Sparking canned water
These bottled water should be available in the app menu when you try to order on your device. Starbucks stores in most regions, unfortunately, do not let you order a cup of water on the app.
However, a recent trend has become popular because it gives you a very unique way to order one on the app.
How to order canned or bottled water on the Starbucks app
1. Go to the Starbucks app and make sure you are logged in. From the app’s home screen, click on “Order.” This should be the cup icon at the middle menu at the bottom of the screen
2. Through the options, scroll down and tap on “Cold Drinks.” Scroll down at the bottom. Select your drink of choice from the “Sparkling Water” or “Water” section
How to order iced water on the Starbucks app
If your Starbucks store offers their customers to order a cup of ice water on the app, you should be able to do that by following these steps:
1. Go to the Starbucks app and make sure you are logged in. From the app’s home screen, click on “Order.” This should be the cup icon at the middle menu at the bottom of the screen
2. Select the store where you want to place your order from
3. Tap on the search icon at the top part of the screen. Then, type “Water.” The options will show canned and bottled waters, scroll down until you find just “Water.”
4. Select the cup size, and tap on “Add to Order”
NOTE: If you cannot find this option on your Starbucks app, then that just means that ordering a cup of water is not available at the store you are ordering from. You can still follow the steps below for another way top get free ice water

Free cup of ice water not available on the app?
Even if you are not seeing the free ice water option on your Starbucks app, another option is by changing your name in the app to include free ice water to your order.
For example, if your name is Kelly, all you have to do is change your name in the app to “Kelly Grande Ice Water.” This lets your barista know that aside from your order, you are also asking for a Grande sized ice water. But this may not always work, so do not expect that you will always get a cup of ice water whenever you do this hack.

Starbucks lets you order additional cups of free water when you are ordering in-store or drive thru. You can also add ice by request if you want your water cold. Most Starbucks store sere their free water in Grande or smaller cups but you can always request for a bigger cup if you wish.
