Cameras are real handy gadgets. They can store information, memorable moments, and a lot more. Fujifilm is a famous camera manufacturer and is known for its innovative camera designs. However, many people face the issue of losing all the photos on a Fujifilm camera because of a bit of mistake or for other reasons. Losing so many memorable images and videos can hit like a disaster to anyone.
But there is little to worry about. You can recover all the deleted photos as there are lots of photo recovery options available, which will recover your pictures and retain the original quality. Let us take a look at why your photos may be deleted and how you can fix them.
Reasons for Data Loss in Fujifilm DSLR Camera
Some common reasons why your images might be lost from your camera are:
1. Accidental Deletion
You may have permanently deleted all the contents in your camera and forgot to take any backup.
2. Accidental Format
You may have formatted your SD Card without realizing that you forgot to take a backup, and by the time you realized it, it was too late.
3. Virus Attacks
If your SD card is affected by a virus, there is a high chance you will lose all your photos. Some malware infiltrates the storage medium to alter the contents and either corrupt them or delete them.
4. Failed Transfer
When you move any file from one location to another (Cut and Paste), the file gets transferred to the destination location after getting removed from the source location. If the transfer process somehow gets interrupted in the middle, the files will not reach the destination but will be deleted from the source. So, you will lose all the images that had failed to transfer.
5. Unallocated Drive
The SD card from your Fujifilm camera needs a drive with a letter assigned to them so that you can access it. If no drive letter is assigned to the SD card, it will not show on your PC.
3 Ways to Recover Photos from Fujifilm Camera
The best way to recover deleted photos from a Fujifilm camera is to keep a backup of the photos in another drive or the cloud. But if you did not do that, no need to worry as photo recovery from your camera is still possible.
Whenever you delete any file, it exists in the storage medium in the form of a dead file. Even if you delete a file permanently, the dead file remains in the specific location where you kept it initially. You will be able to recover the file until your computer or camera allocates some other data in that particular location.
So, there is still a chance that you can recover deleted photos. We will tell you three ways by which you can do so.
1. Command Prompt
Command Prompt is a command-line interpreter used to perform advanced functions. There is a Check Disk command that is used to scan drives and fix any errors. It may help you to recover your deleted files. Here is how you can use the ‘chkdsk’ command to recover deleted photos.
Step 1: Connect your SD card to your PC via an SD card reader.
Step 2: Press Win + R to open the Run window and type “cmd” (without quotes) on the text box. Hold Ctrl + Shift and click on ‘Ok’ to open Command Prompt window as an administrator.
Step 3: On the command line, type chkdsk [drive letter of the Fujifilm SD card]: /f and press Enter. The /f parameter is used to fix any error on the disk.
Step 4: It will ask for confirmation to dismount the volume. Press Y and hit Enter.
Step 5: Type E and press Enter again.
Step 6: Type [drive letter of the SD card]:\>attrib -h -r- s /s /d *.* and press Enter.
This command will create a new folder in your SD card, which will contain all the recovered photos. Make a copy and save it in a backup location.
2. Assign a Drive Letter
If you cannot view the files located in your SD card, it may be because no letter is assigned to the SD card, for which you won’t be able to view it in File Explorer. Here is how you can set a new letter to the SD card drive to recover deleted photos.
Step 1: Open the Start menu and search for Disk Management (you can also find it as “Create and format hard disk partitions”). Open it.
Step 2: You will see lots of volumes in the interface. Look for the SD card and right-click on it. A menu will pop up.
Step 3: Click on “Change Drive Letter and Paths.” A window will open up where you can change or assign a drive letter to the selected drive. Choose any letter and press OK.
Step 4: Restart your PC and reconnect the SD card to access the photos.
Note: If you are facing problems finding out which drive is for your SD card, keep an eye on the storage size of the drives and see which one matches the description of the SD card.
3. Get the Help of a Recovery Tool
Sometimes things get complicated, and you may not be able to perform photo recovery from your camera even after using the methods given above. If that is the case, it is time to call in an expert.
Wondershare Recoverit is a dedicated file recovery tool that you can use to recover any deleted photos from your Fujifilm camera. It is highly user-friendly and can recover any form of data from all memory cards or digital cameras.

Take Actions to Avoid Data Loss from Camera
The steps given above may help you to recover deleted photos, but as we all know, “prevention is better than cure.” That is why you should take some actions so that you don’t lose your photos in the first place.
1. Lock your SD Card
There is a slider on the side of the SD card of any camera. It is used to lock the writing capabilities of an SD card according to our convenience.
To make sure that you don’t delete any image from your camera accidentally, always keep the slider to lock mode. Only unlock it when you are taking photos.
2. Take a Backup
The best way to recover anything is to keep a backup of them. You can either keep your photos backed up in your hard drive or any removable storage. You can even upload these photos in the cloud so that you can access them from anywhere.
So, whichever option you choose, always keep a backup of your precious photos so that you can recover them no matter what happens to your original copies.
3. Install Antivirus
If any malware attacks your SD card, your photos may get deleted or corrupted. So, always keep an antivirus installed on your PC and perform routine checks to keep yourself safe.
4. Ensure a Secure Transfer
Whenever you move your photos from one location to another, make sure that the connection is stable and do not interrupt it.
To remain safe, instead of cutting and pasting the photos, make a copy of them. This way, the original file will remain in the source location while a copy will be formed in the destination location. That way your files will remain safe even if it gets interrupted during transfer.
Copying files may take you longer than directly moving them, but this is the safest method.
Closing Words
We know how frustrating it is to lose all your precious photos for some stupid reason. However, there are several ways by which you can manually get them back and maintain the original quality. For example, you can use the Command Prompt or assign a letter to your drive so that you can get these photos back. If none of them works, Wondershare Recoverit is always here to help.
