    Emails can pile up in our inbox especially since we tend to only read the ones that are important. This happens to many people, and it can be pretty annoying seeing a lot of unread emails. It’s tedious to delete these emails one by one but there is an easy way to clean your inbox. In this article, you will learn how to mark all emails as read in Outlook.

    Marking all Outlook emails as read

    Now that the holidays are over and we all go back to work, your Outlook email is probably swarmed with unread emails. And pretty sure you don’t want to spend time in front of your computer marking each email as read. Just follow the steps below to mark all your Outlook emails as read.

    How to mark all emails as read in Outlook 365 Desktop Client

    All your unread Outlook emails can be overwhelming, but it’s not that hard to mark them all as read. The easiest and most common way to do this is to use a keyboard shortcut and select all the emails and mark them as read.

    How to do it:

    1. Launch the Outlook 365 Desktop Client and sign in to your email account

    2. Go to your inbox and select all emails by hitting the CTRL + A keys on your keyboard

    3. Hover your cursor over any of the selected emails. Right click on your mouse and click on “Mark as Read” in the options on the right.

    How to mark all emails as read in Outlook web version (OWA)

    The steps on how to mark multiple emails as rad in Outlook is pretty much similar with the Desktop Client.

    How to do it:

    1. Launch the Outlook web version and sign in to your email account

    2. Go to your inbox and select all emails by hitting the CTRL + A keys on your keyboard. Another option is to click on the “Select All” icon which is a white circle at the top. It will turn blue with a check mark once you click on it

    NOTE: If by any chance you came across an email that you do not want to mark as read, you can click on the circle on the left side of that specific emal to unselect it

    3. Hover your cursor over any of the selected emails. Right click on your mouse and click on “Mark as Read” in the options on the right.

    How to mark all emails as read in the Outlook app

    Marking all your emails as read in the Outlook app on your phone can be a little tedious compared to doing them on the web or Desktop Client. This is because unlike the two methods above, the mobile app does not have a select all feature.

    However, the app lets you select multiple emails to mark them as read which is still easy.

    How to do it:

    1. Launch the Outlook app on your smartphone and sign in to your account

    2. Go to your inbox and tap and hold on any of the emails. A checkmark should appear on the left side of the email, indicating that it has been selected

    3. To select multiple emails, tap on all the other emails you want to mark as read. To make it easier and faster, you can simply swipe your finger down as soon as the checkmark appears when you follow Step 2. All the emails you swaipe on will automatically be selected

    4. Once you are done selecting the emails you wish to mark as read, tap on the options icon (three dots) at the top right corner of your screen. Then, select “Mark as Read” in the options on the right.

    How to mark all emails in an Outlook folder as read

    If you are one of the people who organize their email by keeping email folders, marking your emails as read in Outlook should be easy for you. This can be done in just a few clicks on your mouse.

    To do this, all you have to do is to hover your cursor over the folder, right click, then click on “Mark as Read” in the options on the right. This method is applicable to both the Desktop Client and web version of Outlook email.

But before you select all the emails, remember to look out for important and urgent emails that you really need to read first. Once you mark emails as read, it’s easy to overlook them and we might miss out reading important announcements or messages.
